New York, February 2004: On my way back to Dublin, I stopped in New York… There had been a blizzard but the Empire State beckoned… Completed in 1931 in distinctive Art Deco style- its roof height at 381 meters (with antenna included 443.2m high)- it’s still one of the highest buildings on the planet- at number 22.
New York, USA, 2004: Brooklyn bridge on a cold January morning… Olympus XA2
Manhattan, New York, 2004: Touched down at JFK near midnight local time after an 18hr trek from Auckland via LAX. Mid summer NZ to mid-winter New York hit hard while having cig outside. Grabbed a shuttle into town with a big and loud Jamaican man who blasted reggae at max on his system. The next day ended up in Battery park at dusk (after I’d missed the last ferry to Staten Island). Got a couple of ok shots on the XA2 while freezing my arse off in the snow… Olympus XA2
